The heart of Milan and Duomo Roof - Walking Tour

Your tour will start with a visit of the world's most famous Opera House, the fabulous La Scala Theatre. Founded in 1778 and still in use, some of the world’s greatest musicians and opera singers have performed here, including Luciano Pavarotti and Giuseppe Verdi whose famous operas such as Falstaff often premiered in this very theatre. Follow your guide around the foyer and balcony’s for an amazing view of the very same stage Pavarotti sang on before visiting the theatre Museum. Your entrance ticket provides 24 hour admission to the theatre and museum so you can return the next day.

You will continue through Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade, symbol of the Iron architecture in Milan and a connection between the two most important squares of the city (piazza Duomo and piazza La Scala). Brimming with fashionable shops and cafes, it is often called the ‘salotto di Milano’ or ‘Milan’sdrawing room’ for its importance through the years as a meeting point for the Milanese people.

Finally, you will reach the majestic Duomo Cathedral, one of the world's largest, most striking Gothic cathedrals. Some 135 spires and 3,200 statues are crammed onto the roof and façade and on it’s top the famous “Madonnina” (the golden Virgin), the symbol of Milan, dominates the city.

The tour will end with the ascent to the roof terrace from where you can enjoy breath-taking views over the city.
