With its 85 mt high and its polychrome marble garment, Giotto’s Tower stands out with elegance against Piazza del Duomo, on the side of Santa Maria del Fiore’s Cathedral, and it’s one of the protagonists of Florence skyline. An example of the architecture of the 14th century, it’s a gothic masterpiece and one of the most beautiful bell towers of Italy. Designed by Giotto, who took care of the construction for the first three years, it was then continued by Andrea Pisano and concluded by Francesco Buontalenti in 1359. This slim belfry has seven bells, named after the Madonna, and it’s decorated with sculptural cycles made by the greatest artists of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. After admiring the external part, you can climb its 414 steps to reach the top, where you will be welcomed by an elegant and big terrace, one of the most beautiful panoramic roofs in the world, where you will enjoy an incomparable view of the old town and you will be so close to the Dome that you will feel like you can touch it: you will be able to take some unique pictures of great impact!
